Common Water Heater Problems We Fix
No Hot Water
If your water heater isn't producing hot water, the cause could be an ignition problem, thermostat issue, burner problem, electrical fault, or another component failure. We'll determine what's preventing your water heater from operating properly.
Water Heater Leaking
A leaking water heater should be investigated promptly. Leaks can come from connections, valves, fittings, or the tank itself. We'll identify the source of the leak and determine whether the unit can be repaired or should be replaced.
Pilot Light Won't Stay Lit
A pilot that repeatedly goes out can be caused by several different problems, including ignition components, gas controls, thermocouple-related issues, leaking water tank, or combustion problems. We'll diagnose the cause rather than simply relighting the pilot and leaving.
Water Heater Isn't Heating Properly
If your water is only getting lukewarm or you're running out of hot water faster than usual, your water heater may not be operating correctly. We'll check the system and determine what is causing the loss of heating performance.
Water Heater Making Strange Noises
Popping, rumbling, banging, or other unusual noises can indicate large amounts of scale build up. In this case we generally recommend replacement, as the water heater is nearing end of life. We will go over replacement options and find out the right solution for you.
Water Temperature Is Too Hot
Water that is excessively hot can indicate a control or thermostat problem. We'll diagnose the issue and make sure the water heater is operating properly.
Our Diagnostic Process
Step 1 - Inspect the water heater, connections, controls, and components relevant the the problem you are experiencing.
Step 2 - Find the root cause of the problem. Instead of replacing parts blindly, our experienced technicians implement thorough tests to discover the true cause of your water heater issue, so you don’t have to pay twice for repairs. If one issue has to be fixed before we can determine a secondary issue, our technicians will let you know in advance so you are not surprised
Step 3 - We explain our findings so you know exactly what has happened to your system and tell you what needs to be done.
Step 4 - We provide you with options for repair, or, depending on age and condition of the water heater, options for replacement.
Step 5 - You decide how you would like to proceed. We do not push replacements out of the gate, we only tell you what is wrong and what your option are. There is no obligation to proceed with our repair after our diagnosis.

Insufficient hot water can be caused by sediment buildup, a malfunctioning burner or heating element, thermostat problems, water leaking onto the burners, an undersized tank, or unusually high household demand. A proper diagnosis can determine whether the problem can be repaired or whether a larger or newer water heater would be a better solution.

Leaks can come from fittings, valves, connections, or the tank itself. A leaking tank generally indicates internal corrosion and requires replacement, while leaks from external components may be repairable. If you notice water around your water heater, have it inspected promptly to help prevent water damage.
-
A gurgling or rumbling noise coming from your tank water heater usually indicates sediment build up inside the tank. This happens due to untreated hard water entering the tank over a long period of time and lack of annual maintenance. At this point, the sediment is usually built up so much that it could spring a leak in the tank at anytime. When we hear girgling and other strange noises coming from the tank, we generally recommend replacing the water heater.
